The word “mocha” originally refered to a major port in Yemen used for trading coffee during the 15th through 18th centuries, the city of Al Moka, or Mocha. Coffees from Yemen were often described as having a chocolate flavour or undertones to it and is why we use the word mocha to refer to chocolate-flavored coffees today.

This coffee particularly lends itself to stove-top and aeropress preparation styles.
